Cape Cod Weir Harvest

Photo Courtesy of Shareen DavisThe Cape Cod Weir Harvest (CCWH) Community Supported Fishery (CSF) is a new CSF that works together with our local weir fishermen and shore-side operations to deliver fresh seafood to our members. Members join the program by purchasing a share for a season. Each week at our designated delivery site: Chatham Natural Market in Chatham, CCWH members pick up their shares of fresh seafood. We’re just like a CSA but with seafood — a CSF.

This arrangement benefits local fishermen, the environment, our local economy, and you—CCWH members. Local weir fishermen are helped by having new, more sustainable, markets for their product. Because the distance travelled and its carbon footprint of putting dinner on your plate is greatly reduced, the environment benefits. By keeping all costs community-based, our local economy prospers. And you—the CCWH member—get the freshest and highest quality seafood available.

The Cape Cod Weir Harvest Community Supported Fishery is a program of Chatham Fisheries Inc. and Chatham Seafood Enterprises/ George’s Place. Without the efforts of Chatham Natural Market and the Northwest Atlantic Marine Alliance;, the Cape Cod weir fishermen and their crews; and local volunteers of the CCWH; and last, but most importantly,YOU—the CCWH CSF members, none of this could have been possible.
