Social Networking & Digital Media Intern
Is Facebook a verb for you? Do your thumbs do most of the walking? Interested in applying your social change values to the ocean? We may have an internship just for you! NAMA is a small organization doing some pretty big work and fighting some pretty big guns. Our Who Fishes Matters campaign is gaining ground in the fight against the industrialization of our ocean. Through online social networks and other web tools, you will support our grassroots efforts to sustain this work by recruiting, organizing and mobilizing people to take action.
Responsibilities
Use online tools like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, Flickr, and blogs to promote and publicize our work. Recruit and engage online activists to turn them into on-the-ground activists! You will also work with our staff to update our website with press, blogs, events, etc. and write content.
Qualifications
Familiarity with blogs, online social networks such as Twitter and Facebook, Flickr, YouTube and other “web 2.0” tools. Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Strong online research skills.
Location
This is the virtual world and you can potentially work from anywhere! But we do require occasional human contact with our staff in Brooklyn, New York and Gloucester, Massachusetts.
Timeline
Ideally, we are looking for a year-long intern but will consider short term applicants.
