Collaborations
Since 2000, NAMA has reported on the collaboration between the Northeast Consortium (NEC) and NOAA Fisheries Cooperative Research Partnership Initiative (now known as the Cooperative Research Partnership Program, CRPP) to fund over 200 collaborative research projects in the Gulf of Maine and Georges Bank.
Aptly named Collaborations and funded by the Northeast Consortium, we created a monthly update of the research projects in the northwest Atlantic Ocean.
In addition to the monthly issues, we have created two reference guides offering abstracts, funding levels, and contact information when available. In the past five years, research has increased in both number and scope, reflecting the dynamic nature of the ocean with which it is concerned, but the overall goal remains the same: to harness the knowledge and talents found in the region’s fisheries community to restore and enhance a marine environment that supports the coastal economies that depend on them long into the future.
