Jennifer

Food offerings:

On Friday JJ will cook Chris King’s Ptown dayboat scallops with a delicious Mead from Green River Ambrosia out western MA. Alex Hay will be setting out samples of Wellfleet oysters from the local grants, and Red’s Best of Chatham will be giving us razor clams in a delicious quahog chowder. All this for 20 bucks.

And finally, join us for a discussion re: What are the effects of seafood demand on our coastal resources?

Also this talk is a two way discussion – my point – if we have a huge demand for local fish in the city, but can’t come up with a local demand year round for our fish — the price will drive fish from our waters and we will have lost a connection to our own resource.

Boston Magazine and WBUR personal chef best:
JJ Gonson, mover behind the Cambridge/Somerville local community will be there to share a quick 10 minutes about local in the city. Cambridge and Somerville have a farmer’s market every day of the week, all seasons in various locations.

She is a true localist because she works menu planning with a team of individuals from a sourced list provided to her weekly and has appeared on WBUR with local fish and farm chefs.

She in turn introduces farmers and fishermen to the general public by cooking their produce into delicious meals that are either served at catering events or offered as a “CSM,” or community supported meal to families in the Boston area. She will be talking about the local movement in the city. For more info on JJ – Her website is www.cuisineenlocale.com
